Police Scotland, Lochgilphead: police reports for week to 22nd July 2013

Theft from Car
Between noon on Sunday 14th July and 2pm on Monday 15th July a blue Mercedes had its badge stolen from its bonnet, while the car was parked on Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead.

Malicious Mischief
Between 4pm on Friday 12th July and 6am on Monday 15th July, taps were turned on at two storage containers situated at Furnace Quarry, resulting in a large amount of liquids being discharged. Although all the liquid was contained within basins and did not escape into the surrounding environment, it is now considered as waste and cannot be reused.

Vandalism
Some time prior to 2.30pm on Sunday 14th July a boat line was cut to a boat moored in Loch A Bhealaich, near to Leachive Farm, Tayvallich.

Between the early hours of Thursday 11th July and 8pm on Monday 15th July a window to a patio door of a house in Dunadd View, Kilmichael Glassary was smashed by an unknown method.

Drunken Behaviour
At 10.15pm on Friday 19th July, police attended a call regarding a male with a head injury on Macdonald Terrace, Lochgilphead. It was ascertained that he had fallen and was subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance. A short time later, staff at the hospital recontacted police in relation to the male’s behaviour and upon attendance observed him outside, having discharged himself. The 48 year old male was arrested for being drunk and incapable of looking after himself.

Mid Argyll Incident
At 9.55pm on Sunday 21st July staff within the Co-Op, Inveraray challenged a male who was stealing soft drinks. The male then produced a knife and stated his intention to self harm. Staff then contacted police. While officers were attending, a separate incident was reported of a male, of same description having entered Tesco’s in Lochgilphead and stealing an electrical item. At this time details of the male’s car was also passed.
Local Officers then commenced a search for the male, with his car being seen within Lochgilphead, but sped off each time, on one occasion causing slight damage to a marked police car which was attempting to stop him. Eventually the car was stopped in Burns Brae, Lochgilphead and the 27 year old male was arrested by Officers after CS spray was used against him.
The male was arrested for several offences including shoplifting, possession of a knife, breach of the peace, drink driving and other road traffic offences.
Due to the circumstances, the male was taken to hospital and examined by medical staff which resulted in the 27 year old male being detained in Mid Argyll Hospital under the Mental Health Act.

It was discovered that the male was from Wishaw, and had attended the Mid Argyll area after being involved in a separate matter involving police there.
